What should I buy to start playing Acoustic Guitar ?

If you really want to get started with playing the Guitar then you need to know what exactly you need to buy. Buying the right Guitar can ensure that you continue playing forever !
Allow me to introduce myself. I am Nikhil Xavier D'Souza and I have been learning the Guitar for 32 years. I am also an Internationally Certified Classical Finger Style Guitarist. Over the years, I have seen that many of my students have purchased the wrong equipment while getting started, only to regret it and end up purchasing another Guitar, pick etc.
Before you get started on your musical journey, make sure you purchase the below items.
Item #1 - The Right Acoustic Guitar
While you can always buy a cheaper guitar, I would personally recommend a good basic guitar such as the Yamaha F310.
What size Guitar should I buy?
The size of the Guitar would depend on the height of the student. Below is a guideline that would help you select a Guitar of the right size for you.
Item #2 - The right Pick or Plectrum
A Plectrum is a thin flat piece of plastic, or other slightly flexible material held by or worn on the fingers and used to pluck the strings of the Guitar. Picking the right thickness for your Plectrum does make all the difference between sounding terrible and sounding awesome. If you mainly want to play chords, then you need to have a thinner Plectrum. If you want to focus on playing lead Guitar, then you need a thicker Plectrum.
But what thickness should you buy if you aren't sure on what you will be playing in future?
I would suggest buying 2 plectrums.

Item #3 - A Guitar Bag
I suggest buying a decent Guitar Bag with some padding so that your instrument is kept safe at all times. If you are spending thousands on a Guitar, then please also spend on a good cover or case for your Guitar.
Item #4 - Music stand (optional)
A music stand isn't a must but it is something I recommend.
